2020 Cadillac CT5 Reveal Intended to Trigger Your Senses

Cadillac has just revealed their all-new, 2020 Cadillac CT5 – the newest sedan to meet the public, but the official unveiling is less than official. They surprised both the media and enthusiasts with a late night/early morning announcement that a set of teasers, coming in the form of a series of videos they have dubbed the “Sensory Symphony” videos, will soon be flooding your social feeds.

The automaker is touting the use of autonomous sensory meridian response, or ASMR, to stimulate the senses, using the videos to focus on the sounds and sights that will trigger a physical response, or sensation know as ‘spine tingling’ to most. This is achieved though the rev of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine, audio from the Bose audio system, and a special black-and-white camouflage wrap, meant to trigger the ASMR sensation as it is slowly peeled back.

“The Cadillac CT5 is meant to overwhelm all of the senses, and that’s why we’re using ASMR-style videos to showcase its features,” said Deborah Wahl, Cadillac chief marketing officer. “The ‘Sensory Symphony’ videos are designed to convey for viewers the same satisfying feeling that arises from driving this car.”

Based on the award-winning Alpha platform, the CT5 is positioned to replace the ATS and CTS models, and will compete in the marketplace with cars like the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3 Series. Besides the twin-turbo V6 used to entice the senses in these videos, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder will also be available, likely in the form of a standard option. Whichever available engine its chosen with, it will be equipped with GM’s new 10-speed automatic transmission. The trim levels – that include Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport – will largely dictate the interior and options of the driver’s centric cabin.

Cadillac promises to release a new video in the series each week leading up to the New York Auto Show, where the CT5 will make the official stage debut on April 16th.
