SPOTTED: 2019 Camaro ZL1 Being Hauled Around Vegas

Photos from Camaro6

For the 2019 year model, Chevrolet is giving the Camaro ZL1 a facelift, likewise as with the base model Camaro. We’ve noticed that people either love or hate, but definitely don’t feel indifferent, about the 2019 Camaro’s new look — but it doesn’t matter how you feel about the base model because it doesn’t seem like the ZL1 has undergone any major changes.

As seen on Camaro6, the Camaro family and a few other Chevys seem like they are heading out to the desert for some testing. GM is known for bringing their cars and a mysterious team of testers out around Las Vegas for track testing before they finalize appearance and performance features for the official unveiling. These prototypes aren’t even wearing the traditional mule covering, so they are probably pretty close to the production version.

What we can tell from the pictures is, the taillights, wheels, and headlights all have been changed, but the ZL1 keeps its aggressive bumpers. The rear will be changed on the 2019 Camaro ZL1, but it’s small enough that we’re guessing no uproar is on the way when it’s officially unveiled. The 2019 Camaro ZL1 1LE prototype is sporting a much smaller and low slung wing that the one on the current year model 1LE. It’s unclear if this is just for testing, or if the production version will have the same spoiler.

Nothing is expected to change under the hood of the 2019 Chevy Camaro ZL1. You can expect to see the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 650 horsepower and 650 lbs-ft of torque being sent through the drivetrain. Expect to see the new 2019 Camaro ZL1 being unveiled by Chevy later this year. They’ve missed the call for the 2018 New York Auto Show, which would follow with tradition of past Camaro drops. Perhaps expect a pre-SEMA Chevy event reveal at the end of October.
