Sixth-Gen Camaro Convertible to Possibly Go into Production Spring ’16

Usually whenever a new Camaro goes into production, the convertible version is soon to follow behind it. Such as was the case with the ’94 fourth-gen, the ’11 fifth-gen and now, reportedly, the 6th-gen. Our friends over at CamaroNews.com recently ran across something that caught their eye and it certainly intrigued us as well.

According to theĀ Canadian website for Donlen Fleet Management, the company that handles the ordering for all rental car companies in Canada. It clearly shows the Camaro Convertible Order Bank opening December 10, 2015 as well as the Camaro (coupe) Order Bank opening, earlier, on July 23, 2015 for Canada. While it obviously doesn’t specify the ordering/production dates for theĀ United States market, it simply says, “TBD” for Canada as far as the production date is concerned.

It’s rather usualĀ that an American car is released for Canadian fleet (rental companies, etc.) consumption potentially prior than its home country, but it at least gives us a ballpark idea of when a droptop version of our favorite pony could go into production. If we were to guess, the American fleet vehicle production will more than likely to go into production at the same time as it would for Canada.

Considering a Spring 2016 order date, it’s probably safe to say that the convertible may actually be a 2017 model, possibly, falling in line with procedures from previous generations. While we can only speculate at this present moment in time, most car companies usually release special models and packages throughout the car’s lifespan, keeping it fresh and relevant. Look no further than the formula they followed with the 5th-generation car.

As you can see in the graph below, it pretty much spells out the ordering system for the 2016 Chevrolet lineup, complete with ordering dates, specific models, and the production dates. When will Chevrolet officially announce the convertible Camaro? No clue, but it’s probably going to be very soon!
